The ground on which the Bones are thrown must be
designed and deciphered like an ancient puzzle by each apprentice. Each
apprentice's ground design must be unique and satisfy at least 20 different active
layers of meaning and layout and the Bones are then to be read in a
complex three dimensional structure. Unlike with the Bone Spirit
pursuits in this ancient tradition, with the ground development the
students get no answers from the Spirit Nations or their mentor for
tackling the mysteries of the ground - they must solve it entirely by
themselves. This quest is carried out simultaneously with the quests for
members for the Bone Bundle. This astounding intricacy
makes this ancient divination system one of the most complex and
